Brigid’s Circles – Creative Responses to the Circular Economy

In partnership with Monasterevin Sustainable Energy Community and Kilcock Community Garden and using elements associated with Brigid we will explore creative approaches to the Circular Economy with children and adults.Circles are powerful symbols in Irish and international indigenous cultures and Christian or non-Christian beliefs. We will use the circle as our theme to express sustainable art in response to climate action and biodiversity, encouraging people to look at the world around us. Circles are symbolic of knowledge, wisdom and creation, values associated with Brigid which we need to reflect on in our society. This project will commence in Monasterevin on the 17th of June, beginning by foraging for colour along the Barrow Blueway, over 4 consecutive Saturday afternoons we will explore natural dyes, eco-printing and botanical ink-making with the intention of creating community art reflecting our journey, which will be exhibited at Eath Rising in IMMA. Dates and venue for Kilcock in late July/August are to be confirmed. Full information and booking is essential on the link below: https://bluewayartstudio.ie/brigids-circles/

In Cloak & Womb: Brigid 1500 Cycle

In Cloak & Womb is a song cycle for three voices composed by Sadhbh O'Sullivan under the Brigid1500 scheme. Taking inspiration from the legacy of Brigid in both her goddess and saint forms, the songs explore how her echo might resonate in the world today, particularly in relation to themes of climate change and social justice.Ahead of its release in celebration of St Brigid's Day 2024, this is an opportunity to hear the full cycle performed live for the first time by vocalists Clara Rose, Sadhbh O'Sullivan and Sharon Murphy."Planet Earth is in crisis. The Earth is crying out to us to protect all creation.Am I listening?"- Rita Minehan, Rekindling the Flame: A Pilgrimage in the Footsteps of Brigid of KildareFor more information contact [email protected] You can purchase tickets HERE  Instagram • Twitter • Facebook • Bandcamp • Spotify New album We Begin in Darkness out April 2022 on VETA Music"I am hugely impressed by this record, I think it's just tremendous." - Paul McLoone, RTE Arena "Make no mistake, the spotlight needs to be on Sive...9/10" - Kate Brayden, Hot Press"One of the most exciting and inspiring artists of our time." - Female First UK"An increasingly special folk-adjacent creator full of promise and, more than anything, a message." - Atwood Magazine"This deserves to be heard, and if there is any justice in the world it will be." - State Magazine
